Top soccer players honored
MAC doles out All-Conference selections following season

The top boys soccer players in the Macomb Area Conference’s five divisions were recently honored as All-Conference selections, with Most Valuable Players and Coach of the Year winners chosen, as well.

MAC Red
Clinton Township Chippewa Valley’s Johnny Dreshaj received the league’s MVP award, while Utica Ford II’s Dave Crawford earned Coach of the Year honors. The Big Reds and Falcons tied for the league title.

All-Conference winners are Jim Lawson, Dario Folino, Kasey Grishaj, Steve Templeton and Evan Kozlowski, Ford II; Dreshaj, Damien Stamenkovic, Greg Cognetto and Iris Mesic, Chippewa Valley; Justin Smith, Gjon Dushaj and Jerome Cristobal, Utica Stevenson; Kyle Nadeau, Brett Reardon and James Graney, Grosse Pointe North; and Blake Reedy and Brent Schmid, Utica Eisenhower.

MAC White
Division champion Utica High had representatives win the top two awards, as Bobby Adkins took home MVP honors and Dave Moran received Coach of the Year.

All-Conference winners are Adkins, Mac Bechard, Max Jurcak, Nick Bono and Jeff Adkins, Utica; Mike Cunningham, Austen Brooks, Brian Auty and Chris Thomas, Grosse Pointe South; Pat Yaghnam, Josh Osantowski and Derek Granum, Macomb L’Anse Creuse North; Ryan Kepler, Adam Burton and Brett Golze, Fraser High; John Bushaw and Aldi Bejkolli, St. Clair Shores Lakeview; and Andy Bieber, Macomb Dakota.

MAC Blue
Sterling Heights High’s Mark Tarazhi (MVP) and Jack LaTorre (Coach of the Year) won the division’s top honors after the Stallions won the MAC Blue title.

All-Conference winners are Tarazhi, Gavin O’Gara, Miguel Kattula, Jeff Lindemann and Ryan Kreiter, Sterling Heights; Brett Schmalenberg, Justin Volpe and Mike Scarchilli, Warren Cousino; Chistian Kiss, Randi Azo and Fady Jarjees, Warren Mott; Zach Petroni and George Klingbail, Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse; and Mike Utash, Roseville High.

MAC Gold
Division champion Madison Heights Lamphere produced the MVP in Scott Poole and the Coach of the Year in Joe Hanna.

All-Conference winners are Poole, David Gettel, Matt Mandarino, Waleed Daniel and Justin Clendennin, Lamphere; David Reynolds, Anos Youno, Ray Sequin and Dan Tabor, Center Line High; Jacob Simons, Bobby Bollenberghe and Zach Morgan, St. Clair Shores Lake Shore; Kevin Abeli, Evan Aronis and Derek Lievens, St. Clair Shores South Lake; Andrew Rumpz and Chris Batche, Warren Woods Tower; and Alex Alvarez and Mike Sonck, Eastpointe East Detroit.

MAC Silver
Marine City High’s Mike Dolan won the MVP after the Mariners took second place, while Marysville High’s Diana Dykstra earned Coach of the Year honors after the Vikings won the division title.

All-Conference winners are William Pasquin, Alex Crampton and Anthony Vaccaro, Clawson High; Mike O’Brien and Will Schaus, Mount Clemens High; and Steve Poma and Xiong Vang, Warren Fitzgerald.
